MID-CITY WEST: Eater has a sneak peek of the forthcoming Greenspan's Grilled Cheese, opening in July at Melrose and Gardner. The restaurant is from chef Eric Greenspan, who won the 2008 Grilled Cheese Invitational with his Taleggio cheese, short rib, arugula, and apricot caper purée on raisin bread.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: That stalwart of expensive deli sandwiches, Jerry's Famous Deli on Beverly Boulevard, closed on Sunday. Restaurant reps say they're scouting a new WeHo location that will include a market component. Jerry's owners already operate something called Epicure markets in Florida, but it's not clear if that's coming our way.

LOS ANGELES: The LA chapter of the American Institute of Architects has announced the finalists for this year's Restaurant Design Awards: notables include Venice's Superba Snack Bar by Design, Bitches and Reed Architectural Group and WeHo's Eveleigh, designed by Nick Mathers. Voting is currently open to the public and winners will be announced June 22 at the Dwell on Design event.
