That Mike D'Antoni is an optimistic guy. He thought a miracle might save the undermanned Lakers team he coached from getting swept in the first round of the playoffs, and just two days after his disaster of a season ended, he closed on this $6.9-million house on a Manhattan Beach walk street. The house on the 60 foot by 45 foot lot is quite a change form the the one-acre estate he's leaving behind in New York, but this one's got ocean views and an elevator. The three-story house has five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths and plenty of living and entertaining space, including a "huge dining room for even the biggest family gatherings, breathtaking informal living room and terrific deck," plus a 400-glass wine bar and huge wine cellar. Here's hoping the roar of the ocean drowns out the "we want Phil" chants no doubt still haunting him.
