For those who didn't think the $35,000 Prima Cinema projector--with it's $500 a night rentals for first-run movies--was spendy enough, have you considered building your own personal Imax theater right in your own home? Family Guy creator/terrible Oscar host Seth MacFarlane apparently did, and decided it would be an excellent way to blow $1 million (at least). The Hollywood Reporter couldn't get MacFarlane's comment on the story, so many questions will have to remain unanswered. Like, is he going for a knock-off digital Imax or the real deal? Will his projectionist have to wear body armor? Either way, here's hoping he at least builds a proper Imax dome over his Beverly Crest house.
