This three-bedroom house in Whitley Heights once belonged to director Otto Preminger, at least according the listing, and it was also home to a handful of early Hollywood types that we've never heard of, according to the Movieland Directory. Built in 1925, the house starts out strong, with its private courtyard entrance and grand living room with 15-foot ceilings, minstrels' gallery, original wood floors, and great beehive fireplace. But things take a bit of a turn when the Spanish style is thrown over for lots of marble, subway tile, and carpeting in most of the other rooms. To be fair to the seller, who picked up the former foreclosure (with roof and foundation issues) for $450,000 two years ago, the kitchen looks to have lost its charm years ago. Oh well. The property has an attached guest unit with separate entrance, original wrought iron fixtures, a small backyard, but no secure parking. It's now asking $1.035 million.
