Back in 2011, Beverly Hills had big plans to make over Roxbury Park, but they all came to naught when the city council rejected all bids for the work over concerns about cost and parking. But park users who wanted a new community center would not be deterred, and last week the city council accepted a slate of bids that will allow for the demolition of the old and construction of a brand spanking new center. Beverly Hills Patch says that when all is said and done, the new community center will include a patio, basketball court, tennis area, library, kitchen, meeting rooms, exercise studio, and auditorium. Fencing goes up around the old community center tomorrow, according to the BH Recreation and Parks Facebook page, and the $10 million project is expected to last about a year.
