Following some bad press stoked by a mad Mar Vista mom, the California Department of Transportation has publicly announced they're smoothing over pothole-filled Venice Boulevard. The fix will involve "cold plane overlays, hot mix asphalt and digouts" (whatever that is), take place in July and August, and cover Venice from Lincoln to Sawtelle. Lots of people encountered Venice's dangers firsthand while cycling at CicLAvia a few weekends ago. [Patch]
