It took 10 years and $370 million, but three channels at the Port of LA are now eight feet deeper. "'I tell you, size matters," said Geraldine Knatz, Port of Los Angeles executive director. "And a port is defined by the depth of its channel. There are a lot of ports around that country that are starting to get to 45 feet or 50 feet.
