Politico is reporting that Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx will be President Obama's pick to replace outgoing Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. At one time, Mayor Villaraigosa had been rumored as the leading contender for that job but sadly the cards didn't fall into place for the mayor. In a web interview with ABC News today, the mayor said he plans to "work in the private sector, maybe join a speaker's bureau, if you will. Write a book. Affiliate with a think tank. And get ready?" The election for his successor, in case you didn't know, is May 21st. [Politico/ABC News]
