Americana Street Improvements to Make Brand Blvd. Awesome

New, 74 comments

Aw, Americana at Brand owner Rick Caruso is not a sore winner: He's gonna lay out $60 million to link up the Americana with neighboring rival Glendale Galleria along Brand Boulevard (nothing on Colorado, huh?). Both malls are getting makeovers right now--the Americana is adding a big Nordstrom and pedestrian plaza, while the Galleria is getting a total overhaul to pull it out of the 1970s, which includes the addition of a new Bloomingdale's in the long-empty Mervyn's space. The Nordstrom, set to open in September, will have a long lobby to connect it to Brand--its big entrance (with valet parking) will be about 900 feet down from the Bloomingdale's, set to open in November. Caruso has announced a whole bunch of streetscape improvements "focused on linking the Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's stores under construction at the two malls. The streetscape along Brand will be improved with new restaurants, trees and landscaping," according to the LA Times. Caruso says "We are going to have one of the great boulevards in L.A." Brand, huh? Wouldn't have seen that one coming.
