Highland Park's New It Place, Grand Central Market's Upscale Coffee, More Health Food in Culver City

New, 13 comments

HIGHLAND PARK: Well, lookey-here--Highland Park Kitchen on York is now Sonny's Hideway. Owner Derek Lyons is scheduled to debut the American restaurant for friends and family, and it looks warm and sexy, with inventive dishes like red-wine-steamed, pan-seared octopus and coffee-braised pork cheek with coconut milk and honeycomb.

DOWNTOWN: The remaking of Downtown's historic Grand Central Market marches on with the addition of G&B Coffee, an upscale coffee stall. G&B will eventually feature a 360 degree bar and all kinds of coffee and espresso drinks at "competitive" prices.

CULVER CITY: Cafe Vida, a Latin-influenced health food chain, was initially supposed to open on Culver Boulevard--that was until they found a better spot on Washington that already had a liquor license. Build-out is happening now at the downtown spot, but no word on an opening date.
