The ever-reliable Real Estalker hears a rumor that philanthropist Wallis Annenberg--maybe you've seen her name slapped on oh, just about everything around town--is quietly trying to sell her beach house in the Malibu Colony for $49 million. (Gee, the asking prices around town are sure going nutso lately.) Annenberg is the daughter of late publishing/media titan and former British ambassador Walter Annenberg and she heads the very generous Annenberg Foundation, which gives out gajillions of dollars to everything ranging from performing arts centers to pet education centers. Anyhow, Annenberg bought this Malibu house in 2006 for $22.75 million and hired architect Frederick Fisher to completely overhaul it "into a new-fangled study of slate gray stucco, shimmering glass and horizontally applied Ipe wood cladding" (she also worked with Fisher on the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica). Sam Cardella designed the interiors.

According to RE, it has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, several decks, and a heated lap pool. The house has been published in Town & Country and C magazine. Annenberg also happens to own the two-bedroom house across the street and stays most of the time in a townhouse in Century City's Century Woods community.
