The Highland Park-Garvanza Historic Preservation Overlay Zone board met this week to review plans for the six-condo project proposed for the base of Mount Washington (on a site that used to house an old Victorian mansion). While some attendees wanted more dramatic changes (the location of the driveway has been a sticking point), the HPOZ only has the authority to give feedback on aesthetic issues, so that's just what they've done. According to Eastsider LA changes to the windows, landscaping, and decorative trim around the top of the buildings have been requested. The plans had called for something in the style of Irving Gill, but we're not convinced the early-twentieth century architect would recognize this as one of his own.
