Condo Plan For Old Victorian Mansion Site at Base of Mt. Wash

New, 34 comments

A little six-unit condo development with underground parking may be coming to the base of Mount Washington, near the Southwest Museum Gold Line station. This week the Highland Park-Garvanza Historic Overlay Zone board heard the application for the project, which has been kicking around since at least 2009. According to Eastsider LA, the current plans call for two-story condos in the style of early-twentieth century architect Irving Gill. The development is proposed for a lot on Marmion Way that has been vacant since a fire destroyed a Victorian mansion decades ago. Nothing's left of the old house except stairs from the sidewalk and the retaining wall; it's not clear yet whether the developer will be keeping those.
