The planned mixed-use car dealership (yes, really) planned for West LA is having its first public hearing next week. The Martin Expo Town Center would include a car dealership, 516 residential units, plus retail and creative office space, all within easy reach of the coming Expo Line, making this a transit-oriented development. The Martin family has owned a GM dealership at Olympic and Bundy for decades, and they say the development is part of a nationwide push from the car maker to strengthen its brand. But instead of being charmed by the odd notion of a mixed-use, transit-oriented car dealership, traffic fears have got neighbors quaking in their boots. Santa Monica Patch quotes one resident who's particularly worried about the office space and the extra car trips it will attract.
