Because of the federal sequester, tens of thousands of people in LA County who qualify for housing assistance may lose some or all of their benefits, and many risk becoming homeless. "Those who qualify for vouchers are typically disabled, seniors, veterans and extremely low-income families and individuals who subsist on less than $14,000 a year." The cuts will bring funding for public housing and Section 8 programs down to their lowest levels in history. [Daily News]
