The liquor license was denied for the forthcoming restaurant at the bottom of DTLA's New Genesis apartments, which house people suffering from addiction. The neighborhood council and some homeless advocates feel it's insensitive to serve booze in the same building where recovering addicts live, while the restaurant claims liquor is required if they hope to operate at night (and stay in business).
