The MOCA soap opera is heating up! Just a few days after it was announced that LACMA is looking to acquire the Downtown museum, the National Gallery of Art says it's possibly just a week away from a five-year agreement in which they'd "collaborate on programming, research and exhibitions," but provide no financial help. Apparently philanthropist Eli Broad--who donated money to keep MOCA afloat in 2008 with the stipulation that it not merge with any nearby museum--helped orchestrate the deal. [NYT]
