The city's effort to turn the vast concrete expanse across from the convention center into a hotel actually bore some early fruit: A request for proposals to develop the 12,000-square-foot, city-owned site netted two offers to build a four-star or boutique hotel on the parcel (no word on where the proposals came from). Considering Farmers Field, the planned football stadium nearby, was dangled as bait and remains wholly in doubt, two offers doesn't seem too shabby. [DN, image via]
