More details on the West Coast's new tallest tower, Downtown's Wilshire Grand, via the skyscraper's Facebook page (are they on Instagram?): "Not since City Hall has a tall building truly addressed the issue of creating an iconic skyline for Los Angeles," declares a video on the page. The Wilshire Grand, designed by AC Martin and owned by Korean Air, will open in 2017 and feature high-speed elevators that whisk people up to a seventieth floor sky lobby in 45 seconds, a signature restaurant, rooftop pool, observation deck, and a spire topping out at 1,100 feet. The hotel rooms, ballrooms, and meeting rooms will feature a strong indoor/outdoor connection, which is "the very essence of Los Angeles." The street scene at Seventh and Figueroa will be "unprecedented," with an "outdoor living room filled with sidewalk cafes, retail, and entertainment."
