LA Could Dump Sister St. Petersburg

City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, along with the ACLU and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, is leading a charge to have LA cut ties with sister city St. Petersburg, Russia.The animus stems from a recently-passed St. Petersburg law that criminalizes things like pro-gay op-eds and LGBT Pride events, labeling them "propaganda." Some of St. Petersburg's other sisters, like Venice and Milan, have already dumped her. LA temporarily cut loose Tehran from its sister city program during the Iran hostage crisis of 1979. [Patch]
