The Arquitectonica-designed apartment tower on what's known as Grand Avenue's Parcel M topped off a few weeks ago and, along with next-door neighbor The Broad museum, makes a nice addition to once-stagnant Grand Avenue (The Broad is getting its honeycomb skin attached right now). The 19-story mixed-use condo tower, which only broke ground a year ago, is the first building in the long-delayed Grand Avenue megaproject, which is slowly starting to move forward in fits and starts (new Frank Gehry-designed plans for a parcel across the street were recently revealed). When the Parcel M building opens in late 2014, it'll offer 271 units (with 54 for low-income folks) and 5,000 square feet of retail that will include more dining options for Music Center and Walt Disney Concert Hall patrons.
