Thirty LAPD officers in the Central Area (which includes Downtown) have volunteered to field-test on-body video cameras while they're on patrol. The field tests are the first step in outfitting hundreds of officers with the cameras, which are supposed to make the LAPD more accountable for its actions. You won't start to see them widely until after January, when the department makes some decisions on how they'll be used. [AP]
