The Navy has been granted another five-year permit to use sonar and create underwater explosions off the Southern California coast. Those activities are known to be harmful to marine mammals, and "It's illegal to hunt, harass, capture, collect or kill marine mammals under the Marine Mammal Protection Act," but exceptions are apparently made for wargaming. The Navy's not allowed to kill more than 155 marine mammals. [SCPR]
