Developers Frank Stork, Channing Henry, and the very hip Kor Group are taking a chance on the south end of Broadway with plans to turn the handsome and historic Case Hotel into a four-star boutique (it was listed on Loopnet recently at $13.5 million). The hotel is removed from all the hot action going on north of Olympic--where there's an Urban Outfitters moving into the old Rialto Theatre, an Ace Hotel checking into the United Artists Theatre building, and an Acne Studios store opening up at the bottom of the Eastern Columbia building--but there's no denying the Case, which resembles Seventh Street's Brockman Building, is chock-full of potential. The 13-story structure was built in 1924 and most recently housed facilities for the area's YWCA, but now sits empty. The developers plan to "redesign the red brick and stone masonry" for the as-of-yet-unnamed hotel operator.
