After selling Bel Air's storied Casa Encantada in 2000, Dole Foods CEO David Murdock picked up this 1927 Colonial Revival nearby for "about $11 million," according to the Wall Street Journal (the city's zoning website says $10.0001 million). The estate was designed by architect Gordon B. Kaufmann, best known for his work on Greystone Mansion, the Hollywood Palladium, and the Hoover Dam, and comes with six bedrooms, eight and a half bathrooms, an entry gallery with 14-foot ceilings, a sun room, dining room "with attached gentleman's bar" (whatever that is), breakfast room, gym, freestanding spiral staircase, maid's quarters, pool house, guesthouse, detached garage, and tropical greenhouse, all on 1.6 acres. Not that the listing shows much of any of that. Asking price is $30 million. Murdock, also known for selling most of the island of Lanai to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, is reportedly going to spend more time on his ranch.
