LA's Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance, which allows multiple little houses on a single lot, has successfully encouraged density while still giving single-family-residence-loving Angelenos what they want (and they want this--the developments always sell like hotcakes), so why don't we go ahead and mess with it? City Councilmember Tom LaBonge has proposed revising the guidelines to respond to whiney neighbors, who are unhappy that some of the projects run up to the sidewalk (as if they're in a city) and that all the trashcans make parking tough on trash day (the projects themselves usually come with garages, so they can't complain about that).
