Coldwell has just put out a ranking of the US zip codes with the highest home asking prices, which is a kind of weird way to gauge expensiveness (sales price would be a lot more accurate), but still a good way to see which fancy neighborhood has the grabbiest homeowners. This year: it's Malibu! Average listing price of a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house was $2.1559 million this year. (Cleveland, Ohio, which is, mathematically, the opposite of Malibu, had the lowest average asking price: $63,729.) California took 13 of the top 25 spots and all of the top five; Malibu was followed by Newport Beach, Saratoga, Los Gatos, and of course San Francisco. Statewide, average listing price was $473,301. Now enjoy this mobile home in Malibu's Paradise Cove, which is asking $998,000.
