Filed under: Giving Estrada Courts Projects A Healthy Makeover

New, 6 comments

The 1940s Estrada Courts housing project in Boyle Heights has lead paint and pipes and is surrounded by freeways and factories--it's not a very healthy place to live. But unlike most unhealthy low-cost housing developments, Black Eyed Peas' grew up in Estrada Courts, and he's decided to help. His Foundation (eesh) is working with a wellness-focused building company to give the development a "large-scale renovation and modernization," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The end result should be healthier drinking water and a less leaded environment for Estrada's 1,200 residents.'s Trans4m (again, eesh) is supposed to be building a community center in the neighborhood, but we haven't heard much about that lately.
