Whoa, is Bunker Hill going to get a nightlife? Hotelier Sam Nazarian, known for his silly-trendy clubs and hotels (LOL, remember Hyde?), is considering opening an outpost of his SLS Hotel somewhere in the MOCA/Disney Hall area. There are already SLSes (designed by silly-trendy Philippe Starck) on La Cienega and in Miami's South Beach; they'll open in Las Vegas and New York next year. La Cienega/San Vicente isn't the coolest area, but Bunker Hill is seriously staid--it pretty much dies once all the jurors leave the courthouse for the day--but it's got some fresh action on the way in both an apartment building and The Broad art museum. The super-slow-moving Grand Avenue Project (plus perhaps the Regional Connector rail line) is supposed to turn the whole area into a lively multi-use zone, but exact plans keep changing (and also not moving). An SBE rep tells The Hollywood Reporter "We're currently eyeing a number of locations downtown but have not finalized any projects at this time."
