Should we start calling the Orange Line the Yellow Line? Apparently there's a public waste issue at the bus rapid transit line's Pierce College station in Winnetka. Metro board members, spurred by angry homeowners who say people are whipping it out and squatting in their alleys and streets (really, transit riders?), got a motion approved to look at ways to mitigate the problem, plus litter and trash pile-ups. One option is to add restrooms at the popular station (it has 391 park-and-ride spots). The motion will also look at adding bathrooms throughout the Metro system, including at subway and light rail stations. Metro currently operates three restrooms for the entire transit system; two toilets at the Van Nuys and North Hollywood Orange Line stations are maintained by the city.
