What a nice sight on La Brea: that once-frightening and long-abandoned five-story office building south of Santa Monica Boulevard (across from the West Hollywood Gateway) has been renovated by developer BMB Investment Corp. and looks ready for retail tenants and office workers. The 1933 structure has gone through many iterations, but most recently was a lurking, rusting eyesore next to the concrete factory. It now holds 11,500 square feet of retail space on the ground level and 33,000 square feet of office space on the second through fifth floors; a crusty one-story building next door was knocked down to make way for an additional 8,600 square feet of retail and 134 parking spots above the stores.
