Garcetti Leaving Silver Lake For Windsor Square Mayor Mansion

New, 7 comments

After months of frothy-mouthed speculation, newish Mayor Eric Garcetti and his wife Amy Wakeland have decided to ignore the counsel of Curbed readers and move from their house in Silver Lake to Getty House, the official mayoral mansion in Windsor Square. The Daily News reports that "The decision was based on the Hancock Park property's convenience, its central location and its size that allows it to be used for official events." The house has been undergoing a renovation since Mayor Villaraigosa's term ended this past summer, but Garcetti and Wakeland will probably move in by the end of this year. They plan to hold onto their Silver Lake modern, which they bought in 2011. Wakeland showed up at a meeting of the Windsor Square Association last week to tell the neighbors about their plans--besides living at Getty, they'll hold regular events including a monthly speaker series, a monthly Women's Leadership Event, and policy seminars.
