In April 2012, LA announced that private company Bike Nation had agreed to lay out $16 million for an enormous citywide bike sharing program. It came out later that BN intended to cover at least some of the costs with advertising on the bikes and kiosks, which now has somehow majorly delayed a pilot program Downtown. Meanwhile, a similar BN program in Anaheim has been a huge disappointment: the company installed three of 10 promised kiosks before bailing. [Streetsblog]
