A Map Guide to the Dozens of Films and TV Shows Shot at Malibu's Leo Carrillo Beach

Is there anything more LA than a beach named for an actor? A beach named for an actor that's also become famous in a ridiculous number of films, maybe? Leo Carrillo State Park in Malibu is celebrating its sixtieth birthday this weekend (although, if we're not mistaken, its sands and boulders are actually timeless and infinite) and at this point, it's pretty much burned into all our consciousnesses as the platonic ideal of a beach--it shows up in The Usual Suspects (that Benicio del Toro cave!), Gidget, Beach Blanket Bingo, Grease, The Karate Kid, Out of the Past, The Trip, Pirates of the Caribbean, and on and on. Several of the movies will be screened in that very Usual Suspects cavern this weekend (and that includes The Usual Suspects); here's a list of all the events. Meanwhile, here's a map showing all of the very many shoots Leo Carrillo's hosted over the years.
