Construction is progressing nicely on the 40-unit Argyle Apartments on Western Avenue. The Killefer Flammang-designed development from AMCAL Multi-Housing will house low-income families and seniors, with the former living in the front of the building and the latter occupying the back, which wraps around adjacent buildings. The four-story development is a stone's throw from an under-construction Target and the burgeoning area around the Hollywood and Western Red Line station. The apartments--with a courtyard, community room, and kids play area--are rising on a long-abandoned lot that made this crusty area appear even crustier; things already look nicer.
