Times have changed, old folks: squatters aren't just punk kids hanging out and getting high anymore; they're now respectable-looking scam artists who take advantage of squatting laws and then turn around and rent out properties on Craigslist. Beware! KCET's SoCal Connected looks into the matter tonight (at 5:30 and 10 pm); one expert tells them the squatters' rights laws in California are out of date--they're written to protect tenants rather than renters or landlords or whoever else gets screwed by a squatter scam artist.
