Huell's Desert Volcano Lair, Wyvernwood Set For Approvals

NEWBERRY SPRINGS: Legendary PBS host Huell Howser, who died today, wasn't just an awesome Californian, he also owned one of the awesomest California houses: this secret Volcano lair out in the desert (seriously, it's on top of a small volcanic peak). The house has been on and off the market for a while; we were always sure it would become a supervillain hideout, but maybe it'd work as a Huell-seum? [Curbed Staff]

BOYLE HEIGHTS: Things are moving along with the enormous Wyvernwood redevelopment in Boyle Heights. The public hearing process will get started this month and today developer Fifteen Group announced it'd struck a project labor agreement with the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, meaning labor is on board and will support the project. Fifteen has also started a program to hire local construction workers on the project, which will include thousands of residential units, about 300,000 square feet of retail, and acres of open space.
