The area round the old Ambassador Hotel (now the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools) is getting luxury-riffic. There's K2 LA going up near Berendo and Seventh and now a company called 3198 W LLC has just purchased the 1927 Windsor Apartments, home to the beloved The Prince bar and restaurant, along with an "adjacent development site"; they're planning a classy update, according to a press release from the lender involved. 3198 paid $10.75 million for the properties and "plans to completely renovate the building and reposition it as one of the premier apartment buildings in Southern California, preserving the property's historic value and communicating its rich history." The six-story Windsor has 74 studio, one-, and two-bedrooms, plus a penthouse, along with The Prince, which has a swank mid-century interior often used for filming (including on Mad Men). The lot next door is currently used for tenant parking; the release notes that "the development space that was included with the sale provides potential for future expansion."
