Work is motoring along at the Palisades Garden Walk, Santa Monica's fancy six-acre park designed by James Corner Field Operations, the firm behind New York's wildly popular High Line. The park's blog shows that both the play forts for Discovery Hill and the two giant Ocean Avenue overlooks have been installed now--the biggest overlook (see renderings here) was too huge to be transported from the steel yard as a whole, "so it was trucked in pieces and assembled on the City's beach parking lot. Last night, fully assembled, the overlook structure made its way, guided by police cars, onto a temporarily closed Ocean Avenue where it was expertly craned into place." Work on the park is set to finish up in August.
