Developer Attempting Washington Blvd. Gentrification in Culver City With 3 Mixed-Use Buildings

New, 29 comments

Down Washington Boulevard, near Inglewood Boulevard, far from the razzle dazzle of downtown Culver City, a Vancouver-based developer is looking to build 149 apartments, says the Los Angeles Business Journal (sub. req.). Bastion Development Corp. has three mixed-use projects going between Lincoln and Inglewood on the mostly ungentrified west side of Culver City, with the first scheduled to open soon. This stretch of Washington has long remained unchanged, the street lined with low-rise commercial buildings, but the broker who represented Bastion in the property deals thinks they're on to something: "(Bastion) really has an eye for emerging areas and likes to be on the cusp ... It's a great location. It's a strong corridor to the tech area ..." The Landmark19, the first of the projects to be completed, will bring 19 "upscale two-bedroom apartments" to a site near Costco. The second, Marcasel, will have 30 one- and two-bedroom units, but the third development is much bigger. Bastion is planning to build 100 units at a site at Inglewood and Washington they purchased at the end of last year.
