SpaceX founder, Tesla Motors cofounder, and PayPal cofounder Elon Musk opened up the year by closing yesterday on a huge (20,248-square-foot) house in Bel Air that he'd previously been renting. Unfortunately for us, it is not a total monstrosity, despite being built in 1990 (and recently remodeled); it comes with seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, "unparalleled finishes," a "kids wing," a two-story library, a theater, a two-room guest suite, a north/south tennis court, a 1,000 bottle wine cellar, a "huge gym," a pool, a yard, and a five-car garage. The house was most recently listed in April asking $19.995 million; Musk paid $17 million.
