Street Repair Measure Punted

New, 10 comments

That was quick. The proposed measure to raise $3 billion to fund street repair has been postponed "in order to give the proposal more time for consideration by all Los Angeles stakeholders and to engage in a massive public outreach effort." The City Council was expected to vote on the proposal today so that the measure could appear on ballots for the May citywide elections--Councilmembers Mitch Englander and Joe Buscaino, who sponsored the proposal, hope the measure will appear on a later ballot to speed up the city's repaving efforts. At the current pace it will take 60 years to repave the 8,700 miles of lanes that are in need of repair. [Curbed Inbox]
