Worry not, weary Runyon Canyon fans: you will soon have a place to sit once more. A concerned reader wrote to us wondering why the benches at Runyon disappeared some time in December. It seems that the Department of Recreation and Parks inspected the benches and decided to remove them due to their "hazardous nature and location." New, safer benches will be installed by the department in the coming weeks. No word on whether the new benches will include safety harnesses or guard rails or what.
