Late last year, California-based LaeRoc Investments announced they were getting close to breaking ground on a 31-story mixed-use tower at Ninth and Olive in DTLA (still waiting, by the way). Buried in LaeRock's press release, uncovered by SkyscraperPage commenter Chef Boyardee, is this nugget: "The real estate firm recently announced that it has received approval to begin working on converting the Gerry Building in the city's Fashion District into 72 commercial condominium units (a total of 122,213 square feet of office and retail space)." The handsome, nine-story Streamline Moderne building is already functioning as a fashion showroom; it's unclear what kind of tenants will be moving in.
