The Mid City West Community Council's Planning and Land Use Committee agrees with the neighbors: five stories is apparently too tall for a mixed-use housing project on a stretch of La Cienega north of the Beverly Center. The committee met Tuesday night and, for the third time now, rejected the project. The full neighborhood council votes on the development next week, and then it's on to the city for approvals (the neighborhood council votes are merely advisory). Developer Beverly La Cienega LLC is seeking permission to build taller and denser in order to bring 43 small apartments and a ground floor cafe to 320 North La Cienega Boulevard. Local Councilmember Paul Koretz is behind the project now that the original plans have been scaled back.
