The people behind South Park's under-construction Avant apartments are getting busy all over town--Century West Partners has just broken ground this week on residential projects in both Koreatown and Santa Monica. Today we check out Koreatown's K2 LA, "a two-building, 303-unit luxury apartment development" just east of the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools (formerly known as the Ambassador Hotel). It seems like everything breaking ground these days is either affordable or super high-end--this would be the latter, with a fitness center, rooftop spa and deck, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, blah blah blah. Plus, the project is walking distance to the Wilshire/Vermont Metro station. Units will all be studio, one-, and two-bedrooms. Phase one of the project covers 688 S. Berendo St. and is expected to be finished in early 2014; phase two is 660 S. Berendo St., which should break ground in May 2013 and finish up in spring 2014. The buildings were designed by Santa Monica-based David Forbes Hibbert.
