Campanile Closing, New Bakery Opening on La Brea, Dumplings For Sawtelle, Pricey New Option on Sunset

MID-WILSHIRE: An LA era is ending with news that Campanile is closing--Mark Peel and Mozza's Nancy Silverton opened the upscale Italian eatery in the eighties. Chef Walter Manzke already has plans for the gorgeous space and says a deal is close.

MID-WILSHIRE: Ah, the circle of life on La Brea: just up the street from Campanile, Twist Bake Shop is building out a new 2,000 square foot space just south of Third. This area is becoming a mini-foodie paradise and blossoming, like much of La Brea.

LITTLE OSAKA: One of the last retail spaces in the Yamaguchi mixed-use development on Sawtelle is leased, Eater reports. With shaved ice, noodles, sushi, and Vietnamese, what was left? Dumplings, of course! ROC Star is building out the space, but there's no timeline yet.

HOLLYWOOD: 9 Olives at Chaplin House opens in the former Libertine space on the Sunset Strip today. A Buffalo couple is bringing their inventive American food to the West Coast for this one. The dishes sound good, but you won't be getting away cheap--entrees run between $35 and $57.
