New, 7 comments

Say, didja know that Wim Wenders, director of Wings of Desire, Paris, Texas, and The Buena Vista Social Club is making a 3D documentary on the subject of architecture? Well, if you didn't before, you do now. In other Wenders- and architecture-related news, the lovely Hollywood Hills residence designed for the German-born filmmaker and his wife, photographer Donata Wenders, has just hit the market. Located in the Hollywood Dell, the .83 acre compound contains a three-story modern house designed by Touraine Richmond along with a two-story 1920s Spanish-style house. Per the listing, the main house was "inspired by Shigeru Ban and Donald Judd," and has five bedrooms, three and a half baths, a wine cellar, theater, studio, two-story open living area, and "enclosed outdoor patio complete with pond and waterfall," while the second structure consists of a two-bedroom, one-bath upper unit plus a studio apartment and office on the lower level. The property also features several patios, terraces, walking paths, "an extensive vegetable garden, fruit trees, greenhouse" and, naturally, a skate ramp. Asking price is $4.395 million.
