DOWNTOWN: Spring Street is getting even more magical, now that upscale Chinese gastropub Peking Tavern announced it's moving into a basement space at the NCT Lofts (Terroni is setting up in the street-level retail space). Estimated opening is first or second quarter 2013.

BEVERLY GROVE: Fitting for a new luxe apartment building like 8500 Burton: esteemed chef Suzanne Goin (Tavern, AOC, Lucques) is opening The Larder at Burton Way on the bottom floor. Expect a farm-to-table artisan cafe like Tavern's own larder. Opening is set for December.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Upscale steak restaurant Smoke will debut September 3 near Melrose and Santa Monica. A masculine vibe permeates, with granite tabletops and a black/gray color scheme.

SILVER LAKE: Eater has pics of SilverLake Ramen, an unfussy noodle joint opening in a week on Sunset near Silver Lake Boulevard.
