As the refurbishment of Echo Park Lake moves ahead--completion is expected in May--Echo Park Patch is worried that bikes may be a casualty of the new and improved green space. A new path around the lake will be made of a material allowing water to filter through the concrete and penetrate the soil, and it's not clear whether bikes will be allowed "because of the sensitivity of the material" (they were allowed on the former iteration). Some locals have requested a separate bike lane, while others say cyclists should take a hike. [Echo Park Patch, rendering via]
